Although there are many practical reasons that lead me to prefer train travel over air travel, there are subtler reasons as well. I find the train offers a gradual transition from a world of ads and emails and usernames and AI, and oh yeah…more ads.
To a place with a slower more humane environment, where one can plan, think, read, and contemplate without interruption. Which happens on the train, and then to an even greater extent on the trail. Plus, the scenery is fantastic!
Have arrived in Truckee and spending a few days on last minute prep and packing and adjusting to higher elevation. Almost there!
