Wednesday July 8 – Highway 88/ Carson Pass to Lost Lakes Campsite. Today’s miles – 6.8. Total trip miles – 67.4.
For the more observant among y’all, we didn’t start today where we finished on Monday. In order to take the pressure off meeting Lisa’s exit plan schedule next week, we arranged our shuttle ride to jump ahead 15 miles, and started at the Park Ranger Station at Carson Pass. This enabled a more relaxing but still rigorous schedule for the next 60 mile section.
Today featured some wide open and rolling vistas, which we were able to navigate only with the aid of Shaq Gummies (pictured). Eating right!
Our comparatively shorter day ended at another awesome campsite beside Lost Lake. After a pre-dinner walk around the lake (which didn’t count towards our hike mileage, ha! 😃), we enjoyed dinner with Eline and Natascha, two women hiking with a group that formed hundreds of miles earlier on their NOBO thru hike.
